Comeback Season of Veteran Tollywood Stars

It’s the season of Tollywood Veteran Actors comeback on silvers creens. While Chiranjeevi is planning for a big comeback in the coming year, other veteran actresses of South Indian Films are also set to return to their acting career with the performance-oriented character roles in big-budgets to shine brighter.

The top lead ladies of 90’s and 2000’s
from Tollywood, Kollywood, Sandalwood or Mollywood who scorched the screens ablaze then are now returning to big-screens in key roles in current day movies as beautiful Moms or Mother-in-laws or even in much key roles.

ZustCinema exclusively throws light on the Veteran Stars who are set for a cool yet strong re-entry in the films, hoping to make it even better in the second phase of career.

Mega Star Chiranjeevi

Mega Star Chiranjeevi had acted in 150 Films including the brief cameo in recently released Bruce Lee, and he is set to make a strong comeback with a full-fledged Telugu film. The Mega Star’s comeback in Tollywood is much awaited, and the announcement is awaited from actor-turned producer Ram Charan. Mega Fans are eagerly waiting to watch their matinee idol comeback treat.

Arvind Swamy

Arvind Swamy, the once heartthrob of Tamil, Telugu disappeared from films for a decade, before making his comeback again with Mani Ratnam’s Kadali, which resulted as a dud. However, his Tamil film Thani Oruvan ended up as blockbuster, making him most-sought-after actor. Arvind Swamy is even approached for the same role for Telugu version of the movie.

Nadiya

Nadiya is one of the actresses who make an elegant comeback and is going great guns in Tinsel town, after her return with Mirchi. She went onto bag very crucial roles in films Mirchi, Attarintiki Daredi, Drushyam, Bruce Lee et al. Nadiya brings in elegance and intensity to her roles and sure has turned one of the favorite character artists among women.

Sridevi

Sridevi after a 15-year hiatus has wowed the audiences with the same brilliance in her act in English Vinglish, while the versatile actress has this year made her Kollywood comeback with Vijay starrer Puli. Sridevi is expected to do more woman-centric role, which are far more challenging and satisfying.

Gautami

Gautami has made a comeback this year after a very long 19-year gap, with strong characterization in Kamal Haasan’s Papanasanam, the remake of Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam. Gautami has brought in her own approach to the challenging role, despite the film being a remake. She shares great chemistry with Kamal Haasan and Gautami refers Papanasanam as her perfect comeback. Let’s see if the success of Papanasam will inspire Gautami to sign more films.

Jyothika

Jyothika, who was last seen on screen in Tamil movie Mozhi (2004) returned back to big-screens in 2015 with the successful 36 Vayadhinale, remake of the Malayalam film How Old Are You? She charmed the audiences as she transforms from a naive homely wife and mother to an independent self made woman in the flick. Jyothika may soon act with her husband and actor Suriya in a new movie.

Revathi

Revathi who is known for his natural acting has been missing on Telugu cinema screens for a while, and she is set to come back in a strong characterization in Puri Jagannadh’s directorial Loafer casting Varun Tej in the role. She will be playing Varun’s mother role and the plot has strong mother-son sentiment.

Madhubala

After 1998 released Ganesh, actress Madhubala made a comeback to the Telugu screens in the role of heroine-mother characterization in Anthaku Mundhu Aa Tharuvatha, and shined brighter in the strong role. “I never dreamt of making a comeback. Some years ago, I started doing small roles in Hindi films. But I liked roles in South and had started accepting the roles in Telugu-Tamil,” says the talented Roja actress.

Raadhika Sarathkumar

Raadhika never left acting and made her presence felt through television serials, and few strong yet brief roles in Tamil. But the ever-energetic actress has taken a decade hiatus in Telugu cinema. Raadhika who was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma's Prema Katha and won Nandi award for Best supporting actress for her role, is now back on Tollywood big-screens with a crucial role in Vundile Manchi Kalam Mundu Munduna, starring Sudhakar Komakula, Neetu Choudhary as leads.

Simran

Simran, who was the top-notch actress a decade long back has now planned her comeback, and she was seen in brief roles in Aaha Kalyanam, Trisha Illana Nayanthara, and has signed for Tamil film Karai Oram for another key role. Simran is looking for strong comeback in a fiull-fledged role, while she also has set up a production house. The actress was last seen in a full-fledged role in Telugu screens in John Apparao 40 Plus ad let’s hope she makes her re-entry in Tollywood too.

Raasi

Raasi who was last seen on Telugu screens in 2004 in Devi Abhayam film is looking forward for her re-entry in movies. Besides making her presence felt as a judge in a reality-show on TV screens, Raasi has signed up for a crucial role in Naga Shaurya's upcoming romantic family entertainer Kalyana Vaibhogame. Her role however is under wraps yet, and let’s wait to see what Raasi has in store for us.

Other Stars

Actress Bhumika Chawla is set to make her Bollywood re-entry with ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ while Sushant Singh Rajput plays the lead role in the movie. Bhumika has confirmed the news and said, “Yes I’m doing the film. But I can’t reveal anything about my role at this point. I’m excited about doing a Hindi film after a long time.”

Actress Shamili who was last seen in Siddharth’s Oy in 2009 is set to make her comeback with the film Veera Sivaji. Shamili is also roped in as heroine opposite Dhanush and Vikram Prabhu in two upcoming Tamil films. Looks like she is set for a strong re-entry.
