Andala Rakshasi Movie Review

Zustcinema presents Naveen Chandra,Lavanya Tripathi and Rahul Ravindran starring is Andala Rakshasi Movie Review .....

What’s all about the Rakshasi

Mithuna (Lavanya) is a cute & beautiful college student in a small town. As earlier said, Andhala Rakshasi story is set in 1990's.The lead actors Surya (Naveen Chandra) and Gautam (Rahul Ravindran) fall to Mithuna at their first sight but do not know each other. Gautam is a guitarist and Surya is an artist nearby. Mithuna loves Surya but with an accident, she was informed that Surya was dead when she was in hospital and was taken care by Gautham. Meanwhile Gautam tries all his ways to get closer to Mithuna expresses his inner feelings to her. But a story twist thrills audiences in the second half !. What was the twist? Finally what happens to Mithuna. Watch it on big screens?

Characters Performances

Lavanya is a fresh face to tollywood and she proved her mettle in acting with immense knowledge on her character. She is charming & innocence looks add essence to the character. The dubbing for her was neat by Chinamayee. Andala Rakshasi bought a new talented heroine to tollywood.

Rahul Ravindran was handsome with good looks but his dialogue delivery was poor which he has to concentrate further.

Naveen Chandra is tough to see with his looks and rugged, but he was apt for the role in Andala Rakshasi. He looked like macho in crucial scenes which was plus point in him. For sure Naveen will grab character roles further in Telugu movies.

Rest of the cast Pragathi, CVL Narasimha Rao done their best and justified their roles.

Brilliant Technical Values and Failures

Andala Rakshasi was a small budgeted film which was done with spectacularly with its rich cinematography done by Murali. The production values of the film took it to next level with best visuals on big screen through out the film. Direction of Hanu Raghavapudi sounds high, but the screenplay was lagging. Dialogues for the characters are apt to convey their emotions. Radhan has given his best not only for songs but also background scores which was soul of the film. Editing by Chandra Shekar G.V should have been taken utmost care, as it was too dragging.

Crucial Analysis

Andala Rakshasi was made with rich technical values but the first half of the film narration was very slow, lagging the story plot and the main content kick-starts only in before the pre-interval. Despite the plot taking off post-interval it keeps you glued only till the flashback episodes where surya character exits. The film gives you Tamil flavour and reminds you of Mounaragam directed by Mani Ratnam at instances. The screenplay by Hanu was weak and it fails in the first half. Even the scenes in the second half were unnatural due to the lack of emotional depth. The climax ends with tragedy which will be never liked by our Telugu film audiences.

My Take

You might enjoy the scenes between Mithuna and Suriya. Andhala Rakshasi was visually grandeur. People who would love to watch slow paced love stories can give it a try…

ZC Take :

First Half is Bore, Second Half is Good... So it's your choice....
