Anushka has earlier played central roles in period and historical films Baahubali and Rudhramadevi, and when the actress has signed up for Bhagmathi, it was rumoured to be based on historical subject, that deals with Bhagmathi, wife of Quli Qutub Shah.
However, Anushka has denied
the news and said that this Bhagmati is a modern-day thriller, and has nothing related to the love story of Emperor Quli Kutub Shah and his mystic wife Bhagmati.

Anushka also informed that the shoot will commence from June 1st week, and G. Ashok of Pilla Zamindar fame will direct the flick. Bhagmati will be produced under the banner of UV creations. More details of the movie are awaited.
